Curricular Track: Physical Oceanography
Research Interests: Computational fluid dynamics, and in particular
large eddy simulation (LES); deep convection and the formation of bottom
water and oceanic 'chimney' structures; ice boundary layers and polynya
formation; thermobaric and cabbeling instabilities, arising from
nonlinearities in the density of sea water; wave boundary layers,
including Langmuir circulation and wave breaking; the response of
Lagrangian and semi-Lagrangian drifters to small-scale turbulent
convection.
